- Client
- UK designer with five licences
- Product
- CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2025 USB
- Time to resolve
- Nearly two days
- Root cause
- Corrupted Windows user profile
The problem
The customer had already purchased five CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2025 licences. On a new PC, the installer displayed the licence agreement and allowed scrolling, but the Accept button remained unavailable.
The USB installer and serial appeared valid, while the curved widescreen and NVIDIA graphics card pointed towards a familiar display-scaling fault. What looked like a five-minute installation became a two-day investigation.
Why the obvious diagnosis failed
Corel installers can fail to register that the EULA has been read when display scaling distorts the window. The diagnosis was reasonable, but it did not explain why every display fix failed.
- Ran the installer as Administrator and disabled high-DPI display scaling.
- Set Windows display scaling to 100% at the monitor's native resolution.
- Resized the installer window to reset its EULA scroll state.
- Disconnected the curved ultrawide and tested with a standard monitor.
- Changed NVIDIA scaling between GPU and display modes.
- Removed leftover Corel installation data and confirmed administrator rights.
The turning point: profile, not pixel
Once the monitor, resolution and scaling possibilities had been exhausted, the Windows login became the remaining variable. A user profile can retain damaged installer state, DPI virtualisation settings, old Corel data and cached EULA flags even when the desktop appears normal.
Testing the same USB installer and serial under a clean Windows administrator account isolated the problem without replacing a valid licence.
The fix
- 1Create a new local Windows user with administrator rights.
- 2Sign out of the original profile and sign in to the new account.
- 3Run the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2025 installer from the USB, not the 2026 trial.
- 4Scroll through the EULA, select Accept and complete the installation.
- 5Return to the original user only after the software is installed and licensed.
The result
On the new Windows account, the Accept button became available, the serial was accepted and CorelDRAW opened successfully. The customer kept the five licences already purchased—no replacement licence, extra invoice or refund process was needed.
What this case taught us
- • A grey EULA Accept button does not automatically mean the serial is invalid.
- • Display scaling is a genuine Corel installer issue, but it is not the only possible cause.
- • If an installer fails under one Windows login, test it under a clean administrator account.
- • Diagnose the machine before asking a customer to replace software they already own.
